Rockefeller State Park Preserve has been designated an Important Bird Area.  Dr. Elijah Goodwin will present preliminary results from the first year of a multi-year study of wood thrush productivity on Preserve lands. What can wood thrushes tell us about the health of our forest, and where do we go from here?

The Solarize Tarrytown residential program has ended. Thank to everyone who participated, the campaign was a huge success with 29 new signed residential contracts. The commercial program will run until April 15, 2016.

Kids Speak up for Solar

The Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council (TEAC) and Solarize Tarrytown are inviting school age student residents to create age appropriate materials to represent the need for sustainable energy, how solar energy works, and its benefits. Materials would include posters and videos to highlight the benefits of solar energy.

All entries must be received by 4 P.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Please address to: Attention TEAC, Tarrytown Village Hall, 1 Depot Plaza, Tarrytown NY 10591. Videos and/or links to videos can be emailed to sharoncamlic@gmail.com.

Participants will receive a Solarize Tarrytown Certificate at Warner Library on Monday evening, February 8 at 6:30 P.M. Special awards will be presented to two student entries from each school. Winning entries will be posted on the Solarize Tarrytown website:

Solar Success in Tarrytown

Come to the Warner Library on Sunday, January 10 at 1:30 pm, to find out what factors make a solar panel installation possible and successful. Representatives from Sunrun, the residential solar installer chosen by Solarize Tarrytown, will discuss the solar installations that are taking place and solar homeowners will be present to discuss what made them choose solar.  Solarize Tarrytown is a committee of the Village of Tarrytown.

Solarize Workshop at the Warner Library, Sunday Nov. 8 at 1 pm. This is a great way to lower your utility bills and avoid rising energy costs. There has never been a better time to think about solar.

Solarize Tarrytown is a unique discount buying program that uses a tiered-pricing structure, town-supported education and outreach and one competitively selected installer to dramatically reduce the cost of solar. The more residents sign up for Solarize Tarrytown, the more the cost comes down. You must sign a contract by February 29, 2016 to participate.
